American-bred PRE from Hampton Green Farm Tops Young Horse Classes in Germany
This summer, Jasmine Schaudt and her PRE Stallion Icono HGF have started a small revolution in the FEI Five Year Old classes in Southern Germany. In three separate shows from July through September, three panels of judges have placed Jasmine and Icono in First or Second place, with scores up to 8.2% in classes of over 20 horses, including former Four Year Old and Five Year Old champions of the Trakhener and German Young Horse circuits. Jasmine, wife of German Gold Medalist Martin Schaudt, is the rider and trainer of both Icono HGF (Idilio II x Escapada) and Genio HGF (Grandioso III x Ibiza), two five year old PREs purchased by Martin in 2006 in Michigan when both horses were still at their dam's sides. Genio is a full brother to Robert Dover's 2008 Fiero HGF.
American-Bred PRE Among Top 5 PREs in Spain
This past weekend in Almeria Spain, Vaquero HGF competed in his second horse show with notable results. He and his rider Daniel Martin Dockx placed in the top five PREs nationally at the Four Year Old Level, and in the top ten for the Four Year Old Championship overall. Vaquero HGF was born in Fruitport, Michigan and traveled to Spain in late 2010 to be trained by Daniel Martin. He is a son of Cuatrero, out of Encina (Idilio II).
Robert Dover and Fiero
What does 6-time Olympian Robert Dover have to say about his HGF horse? For the answer to that, you only have to reference his blog, on which he refers to Fiero often. Most recently, Robert made this post:
"I am so excited to have a young horse again after so many years, and HGF Fiero has been a total pleasure to deal with, like an over-grown puppy! I love grooming him and turning him out in his paddock each morning, despite the fact that I’m dreadfully alergic to practically everything I touch and breath in a barn. It’s still worth the itching and sneezing! The thing about the Spanish horses is that, if they have 3 great gaits with scope and purity, one must consider the fact that they are able to achieve excellent scores as Team Horses at the minimum and may even rise to become the next Fuego, one of the best 5 horses of the world at the moment. Now, when you realize what it costs if you can even find a warm-blood that has the potential to produce a future 69- 75% if all goes perfectly in its training and it stays sound, purchasing a top Spanish horse becomes even more practical. The other day as I led him into his stall, he began to passage down the isle-way and when I held him back he produced what I know will be a perfect, classical piaffe. You have to love that!" The Distinction of an HGF Horse
Hampton Green Farm has been in the breeding business for ten years and has placed young PRE horses with many different types of owners--PRE breeders from as far away as New Zealand, a German Olympic Gold Medalist, several American Olympians, nationally ranked Junior Riders, and professionals and amateurs across the United States and Canada. In the few years that HGF-bred horses have been out in the show circuit, we have produced Regional Champions, Dressage at Devon Breed Champions, a Reserve National Champion Developing Horse for Spain, multiple Open and Adult Amateur All Breeds Champions, and many Best Movement Champions at ANCCE-judged breed competitions.
HGF clients not only become the proud owners of a horse with top-level potential, but they also join a community of PRE enthusiasts and specialists, who can advise them on all things pertaining to the care and training of their very special new horse. Dressage and handling clinics are offered throughout the year in both HGF locations, and HGF horses have priority for training with our staff riders. Visit the Hampton Green Forum on Facebook for an idea of the world of HGF horses and owners.
